Ecologists conducted an inspection after reports that dirty water was flowing into a river in Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
A video that spread on social media alarmed city residents. The city's Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection took water samples for laboratory testing.
"As the research results showed, this place is part of the main drainage channel designed for transporting irrigation water and discharging surface runoff," the statement said.
The collected water samples showed that the concentration of pollutants did not exceed the maximum permissible limits.
