At the Republican Physics and Mathematics School in Almaty, 48 students were hospitalized with acute intestinal infection. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control, as of October 14, 48 cases were registered, including 36 children under 14 years old. All patients were hospitalized, and their condition is stable. There are no patients requiring intensive care. Laboratory tests to identify the causative agent are ongoing.
Results of the epidemiological investigation
According to the epidemiological investigation, all patients live in the boarding school. 225 contacts were placed under medical observation, and another 6 children were isolated in the boarding school.
During the inspection of the food unit of "Master Food" LLP, violations of sanitary requirements were found. In particular, the requirements for storing food products, taking daily samples of prepared dishes, and organizing meals were not observed.
"Samples of water and food products, swabs were taken, and food unit employees were examined," the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control said.
Measures taken
Five resolutions were issued regarding the activities of the school and the canteen: suspension of the school and canteen operations, suspension of the sale of certain dishes, introduction of temporary sanitary measures, and removal from circulation of dairy products without the necessary accompanying documents. Disinfection was carried out in the boarding school building.
Based on the inspection results, the materials were sent to law enforcement agencies for review and procedural decision-making. Recall that a mass poisoning of students occurred at a well-known educational institution in Almaty. Police have opened a criminal case.
