A science festival in Almaty brought together schoolchildren, college and university students, scientists and engineers. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by specialists from the Rosatom State Corporation, the National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI) and the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan. At the innovation hub of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, they told more than 500 schoolchildren and students about the future of professions in the nuclear industry. The science festival was organized by the Almaty branch of MEPhI based at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event was attended by students of grades 7-11, college and university students. They not only got acquainted with modern scientific developments, but also saw technologies in practice, took part in experiments and spoke directly with experts.
"A schoolchild who comes to the festival does not just listen to a lecture. He tries an experiment, asks questions to professors and experts, and communicates with the academic environment. After the festival, he forms an understanding of science, the atom and the nuclear industry," said Aliya Aldiyarova, deputy head of the Almaty branch of MEPhI based at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
According to her, Rosatom representatives also actively participate in organizing such festivals in Kazakhstan. They share their experience and knowledge, explaining that the nuclear industry has great prospects.
"A big world of nuclear science and space science opens up before you. (...) Nuclear technologies are not only nuclear power plants. These are nuclear medicine, quantum computers, lasers and other fields of science and technology. In these areas you will be able to apply your knowledge," said Konstantin Ruder, deputy director of the Communications Department of the Rosatom State Corporation, at the opening of the festival.
