A major fire broke out at the transformer substation of the Western Thermal Complex located in the Auezov district of Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Footage taken by eyewitnesses shows thick plumes of smoke rising over the city. According to preliminary information, the fire occurred on the territory of an energy infrastructure facility. The causes and possible consequences of the fire have not yet been reported.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) reported that firefighters are working at the scene. "At this moment, MES employees are extinguishing the fire at the transformer substation in the Auezov district of Almaty on Otarskaya Street," the MES said.
