Auto picker and blogger Vladislav Zhukov made a new review of used cars at the Almaty car market. After studying the offers, he concluded that there has been no noticeable price reduction yet. However, the cost of relatively recent models is gradually becoming more adequate. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the author of the review, the main demand is currently focused on cars of recent years. Older passenger cars are selling worse, as many buyers prefer to take out a loan and purchase a more modern model, even if it is a Chinese brand.
At the same time, really good options are still expensive. This is especially true for Toyota models, which almost do not lose value due to high liquidity.
At the Almaty car market, you can find both mass-market sedans and crossovers, as well as premium SUVs. For example:
Hyundai and Kia continue to strengthen their positions in the secondary market. Particularly in demand are Sonata, Santa Fe, Sorento, and Palisade.
At the same time, Zhukov noted that 2-liter Korean engines should preferably be checked with an endoscope due to the risk of scoring. He considers more modern 2.5-liter engines to be more successful.
Buyers are also advised to carefully check cars imported from the USA. Before the deal, it is worth studying the car's history at auctions to ensure it was not seriously damaged or flooded.
According to Zhukov, the growing popularity of Chinese brands is gradually changing the used car market. Kazakhs are increasingly comparing the cost of a ten-year-old Toyota with the price of a new Chinese crossover, so owners of older cars find it increasingly difficult to maintain the previous price level.
On the market itself, prices are usually higher than in ads. However, sellers are more often ready to negotiate, so the final cost is often significantly lower than the initial one.
Earlier, Kursiv Avto wrote that Kazakhs continue to hunt for "live" used cars.
