Since the beginning of 2026, state labor inspectors have identified 614 labor law violations in Almaty. Employers were fined nearly 64 million tenge as a result of inspections. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Acting Deputy Head of the Almaty State Labor Inspection Department Talgat Umbetyarov said that since the start of the year, inspectors conducted 566 unscheduled inspections. As a result, 614 violations were detected, of which 588 concerned labor relations, 23 concerned safety and labor protection requirements, and another three concerned employment legislation.
Based on the inspections, inspectors issued 389 orders to eliminate violations. To date, 266 of them (68.4%) have been fulfilled. 309 legal entities and individuals were brought to administrative responsibility. The total amount of fines imposed was 63.9 million tenge, of which 37.7 million tenge was collected.
According to the department, 51 industrial accidents were registered in Almaty over six months. As a result, 51 workers were injured: 27 people suffered severe injuries, and another 21 suffered minor injuries.
Special attention is paid to wage payment issues. Since the beginning of the year, 53 enterprises have repaid wage arrears totaling 59.4 million tenge. This helped restore the rights of 105 workers.
At the same time, wage arrears persist at four enterprises in the city. The total debt amounts to 97.3 million tenge owed to 73 employees.
The department also reminded employers of the obligation to timely enter information into the Unified System for Recording Employment Contracts (USREC). According to JSC "Center for Labor Resources Development," information on 73,592 workers in Almaty is still missing from the system.
Talgat Umbetyarov noted that amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses came into force on March 12, 2026, providing for liability for untimely, incomplete, or inaccurate entry of information into the USREC.
For a first violation, officials face a fine of 30 MCI, small businesses and non-profit organizations — 60 MCI, medium-sized businesses — 80 MCI, and large enterprises — 150 MCI.
