An ordinary morning at the editorial office of the Bes.Media news agency in Almaty nearly ended in a terrible tragedy. Arriving at work, staff members noticed two young men outside the office window on the tenth floor, on the exterior side of the building. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The situation developed rapidly, and any careless movement by the young men could have led to a fatal fall.
Journalists Artyom Shlyakhov, Alexander Zhdanov and Damir Baimanov instantly reacted to the deadly danger. At first, the editorial staff tried to enter into a dialogue with the young men and persuade them to climb back into the room on their own, but the conversation produced no result. Realizing that there was no more time, the media workers moved to decisive action: they ran to the window, held both young men in a death grip and forcibly dragged them inside the office.
Emergency services and relevant specialists promptly arrived at the scene. The young men were given first aid and handed over to medical workers. All the circumstances and reasons why the young men were outside the window of the high-rise are currently being established.
The Almaty Police Department expressed official gratitude to Artyom Shlyakhov, Alexander Zhdanov and Damir Baimanov for their courage.
