In Almaty, a Kia driver crashed into a support of a under-construction overpass and overturned, the city police department reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The serious traffic accident occurred in the Auezov district. According to preliminary data, the Kia driver was traveling along Tole bi Avenue in a western direction. After crossing Yassawi Street, on a section of roadworks, he lost control of the vehicle.
The car hit a support of the under-construction overpass, after which it overturned.
As a result of the accident, the driver was taken to one of the city hospitals with serious injuries. The passenger of the car also required medical assistance.
Police reported that one of the possible causes of the accident is preliminarily considered to be failure to maintain a safe speed. The final causes and all circumstances of the incident will be established during the investigation.
Drivers were reminded that in areas where roadworks are being carried out, they need to be especially careful, observe the speed limit and take into account the road conditions.
"Even one wrong decision behind the wheel can lead to serious consequences," police noted.
Earlier, Kursiv reported about an accident involving three cars that occurred in the Turksib district of Almaty. After a series of collisions, one of the cars overturned onto its roof.
