Residents of Almaty received an urgent notification about an earthquake. Almaty residents began mass-evacuating from buildings in accordance with the procedure for actions during an earthquake. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed that underground tremors occurred. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

An earthquake has been registered in Kazakhstan. The seismic station network of the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observation and Research LLP of the Ministry of Emergency Situations registered the earthquake.
"According to preliminary information, the seismic event occurred in the city of Almaty," the statement says.
Location of the epicenter
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the epicenter of the earthquake is located 8 kilometers southwest of Almaty.
Where the earthquake was felt
The earthquake was felt in the following settlements:
- 01Karasay city (Kaskelen) – 2-3 points;
- 02Boralday village – 2-3 points;
- 03Otegen Batyr village – 2 points.
