Demolition works have begun at the illegally built Zhetisu-Semirechye market in Almaty, the city akimat reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The market is located in the Kairat microdistrict of the Turксиб district, and its total area exceeds 56,000 square meters.
“During a previously conducted inspection, it was established that Status Construction LLP built retail spaces with a total area of 56.4 thousand square meters without permits,” the statement said.
Administrative measures were taken against the owner and an order was issued to eliminate the violations.
However, the requirements of the order were not fulfilled, and the Urban Planning Control Department filed a lawsuit for the demolition of the illegal facilities with the Specialized Interdistrict Economic Court of Almaty.
“By the ruling of the Almaty City Court, the decision of the specialized interdistrict economic court on the demolition of illegal facilities was left unchanged,” the akimat said.
In order to comply with the court decision, the owner independently began demolition works.
