In Almaty, changes to traffic will be introduced due to the Cycling World Championship. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

On August 16, Almaty will host the Gran Fondo World Championship among amateurs and veterans. In this regard, the traffic scheme on some sections of Al-Farabi Avenue will temporarily change.

Traffic Changes

  • 01From 05:30 to 06:40, traffic will be temporarily restricted on the section of Al-Farabi Avenue from Dostyk Avenue to Talgar Highway.
  • 02From 05:30 to 10:30, traffic will be temporarily restricted on the section from Dostyk Avenue to Nauai Street.

These measures are introduced to ensure the safety of race participants and road traffic.

Drivers are asked to take the changes into account and plan their routes in advance.

Race Participants

About 1,000 amateur athletes from more than 20 countries will take part in the race. Participants will compete over distances of 95, 50 and 37 kilometers.
