The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan announced the detention of members of a transnational organized criminal group. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

It all started with the murder of a Kazakh citizen in Istanbul. As a result of joint work of police officers from Kazakhstan, Georgia and Turkey, two people were detained.

"During the investigation of the criminal case, the reason for its commission, as well as the organizer and customer of the murder, were established. The information obtained allowed the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the National Security Committee, to solve other serious crimes committed by members of the transnational organized criminal group on the territory of Kazakhstan," said Kuandyk Alpys, a representative of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In August 2025, one of the group's killers, who attempted to murder a city resident, was detained in Almaty. The investigation into this case has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, together with colleagues from Georgia and Turkey, conducted a phased special operation to detain members of the transnational organized criminal group on the territory of three states. In Almaty, members of this criminal structure were detained. They are accused of involvement in several attacks using weapons, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Also, on the territory of Georgia, persons suspected of having links with transnational criminal structures and involvement in a number of serious crimes were detained.

"Currently, the collection of evidence on all known criminal facts continues, and persons involved in the crimes are being identified. Work is underway to bring the organizer of the group to justice in accordance with current legislation," said Kuandyk Alpys.
