Almaty plans to reduce the time required to obtain preferential permits for municipal paid parking. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the city akimat, 15,344 car owners currently use these benefits.
The benefits are available to people with disabilities of groups I and II, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, large families, and representatives of families affected by nuclear tests at the Semipalatinsk test site. Owners of electric vehicles and special transport can also use them.
Currently, there are more than 17,000 municipal parking spaces in the city. Their number is planned to be increased to 25,000.
«In addition, Almaty intends to simplify the processing of preferential permits and develop digital services to reduce the time for receiving services. The expansion of the parking network will be accompanied by improved service quality and accessibility of parking for various categories of residents,» the statement says.
Since October 4, tariffs for municipal paid parking in Almaty have changed. Instead of a single rate of 100 tenge per hour, three rates were introduced — 100, 150, and 200 tenge depending on the load of the area.
Earlier, the city maslikhat approved per-minute parking payment. Owners and tenants of apartments were also allowed to register free parking for one car at a chosen parking lot within 500 meters from their home.
In September, the akimat explained that electric vehicle owners need to submit an application to «Almaty Parking» to receive the benefit. After its review, the car will be entered into a special registry, and no parking fee will be charged.
