Two Russian tourists were injured in a high-altitude area of Almaty region, and rescuers evacuated them from an altitude of over 3500 meters. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
On August 5, a tourist group of eight people asked for help at the high-altitude hydro post "Togyzak", located at an altitude of 3510 meters above sea level in Talgar district. Two tourists participating in the hike needed medical assistance.
A 25-year-old female tourist, despite wearing a protective helmet, suffered a head injury from a falling rock. A 32-year-old man fell and injured his arm. According to preliminary data, he may have a broken arm.
Due to the complexity of the high-altitude terrain and thick fog, it was not possible to use aviation promptly. Therefore, rescuers of the republican operational rescue team "Barys" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations went on foot to the victims through the Left Talgar gorge. By dawn, rescuers reached the hydro post and checked the condition of the tourists.
After the weather improved, the victims were evacuated by helicopter "Kazaviaspas" to the "Medeu" site. There they were met by medical workers of the Disaster Medicine Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Later, the tourists were taken to a medical facility for additional examination and necessary medical care.
