A taxi driver in Almaty demanded $150 from Indian tourists for a ride from the airport to the city. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The tourists disagreed and contacted the police. During the investigation, police quickly identified the driver and returned the illegally obtained funds to the foreign citizens in full.

Administrative materials have been collected against the driver and sent to a specialized inter-district court for administrative offenses for a legal decision.

Almaty police warned that any actions aimed at deceiving passengers, including city guests, and illegally obtaining profit are strictly prohibited.
