Almaty has experienced a heatwave last seen 80 years ago. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
On July 16, the air temperature in the city reached +38 degrees. That day, the 1976 record (+36.1 degrees) was broken, and on July 17, the temperature exceeded the 81-year-old record set on the same day in 1945 (+37.4 degrees).
Last Friday, Almaty recorded +39.2 degrees. On July 18, the mercury rose to +40 degrees. The temperature record for this day was set in 1997, when +39.7 degrees was recorded. On July 19, the temperature was +41.2 degrees, but did not exceed the 1983 record (+43.4 degrees).

Today, Almaty will be hot again, with the mercury rising to +40...+42 degrees. Wind speed will not exceed 3-8 meters per second. However, rain is expected tomorrow and the day after.
