A fair of goods from Tajikistan will be held again in Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The city administration confirmed that the agricultural fair of producers from the Khatlon region of Tajikistan will take place on June 27 and 28 in the Alatau district of Almaty. Trade rows will be located on the site in front of Almaty Arena in the Nurkent microdistrict. According to organizers, 40 farmers will come to Almaty, bringing more than 500 tons of products.
The fair will be open from 10:00 to 18:00, admission is free. Visitors are promised seasonal fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, oriental sweets, as well as handicrafts.
Recall that previous fairs of Tajik goods were remembered not only for the hype but also for a wave of criticism. In 2023, after the fair in Astana ended, visitors were allowed to take part of the products for free. However, the action ended in a stampede.
Then Astana akim Zhenis Kassymbek stated that some Kazakhs broke canopies, counters, and decorations at the fair. There were also facts of public order violations. Then the police began searching for "vandals."
After the announcement of the Tajik products fair in 2025, residents of Astana feared that everything would again turn into "Hunger Games."
Fortunately, two years after the stampede for vegetables, the fair passed without order violations. The Astana police fenced off the oriental sweets and free pilaf with a barrier.
