Tourists from India complained that a taxi ride from the airport to the upper part of Almaty cost them $150. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

After the tourists' appeal, police officers from the Bostandyk district quickly identified the driver. The illegally obtained money was returned to the foreign citizens in full. An administrative case has been opened against the driver and will be sent to a specialized inter-district court for administrative offenses for a decision.

Law enforcement officials reminded that any attempts to illegally enrich themselves at the expense of passengers, including foreign guests of the city, will receive a principled legal assessment. Citizens and tourists are reminded: if you become a victim of illegal actions, you should immediately contact the police at 102.

Earlier, Kursiv reported about a driver in Almaty who caused an accident while watching a police arrest.
