Almaty police have identified a manufacturer of fake documents for couriers and drivers. According to the department, a 32-year-old suspect took the numbers of real Kazakh citizens' ID cards and replaced photographs and personal data in the documents. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The man was detained. According to police, he produced identity cards, driver's licenses and technical passports to order for money. In the forgeries he used valid IINs of Kazakh citizens.

"Such substitution allowed clients to register on delivery and passenger transport services, effectively hiding their identity," the Almaty police department said.

According to preliminary data, most clients were natives of Central and South Asian countries. They ordered the documents mainly to work as couriers and drivers.

During a search of the office, police seized computer equipment and a phone that could have been used to produce the forgeries. They were sent for examination. Police are also deciding whether to separately check the suspect's actions for signs of organizing illegal migration.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that in February Almaty police demanded that delivery services introduce biometric verification of couriers at all stages of work and prohibit the transfer of accounts to other people.
