The Emergency Department of Almaty city issued a statement in accordance with the storm warning from Kazhydromet. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the report, on July 4, Almaty will experience intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds during the day. Wind gusts from the west will reach 15-20 meters per second.
"In the mountainous areas of the Ile Alatau (Medeu and Bostandyk districts), rain, thunderstorms, heavy rain in places, hail, and gusty winds are forecast. The wind is from the west and northwest, with gusts of 15-20 m/s, and during the day locally increasing to 23-28 m/s," the statement said.
On July 4-5, due to heavy rainfall, there remains a risk of mudflows in mountainous areas. In this regard, the Almaty Emergency Department recommends that residents and guests observe safety measures, avoid going to the mountains during the storm warning period, do not park cars under trees, do not stand near weakly reinforced structures, and monitor official messages from the emergency services.
