The head of state met with Zhong Yong, senior president of UBTECH Robotics Corp, according to Akorda. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev supported the corporation's plans to open a plant in Almaty producing robotics for education and service. The president said the country would become the company's first production site outside China.
The project is being implemented in line with agreements reached in July this year in Shanghai.
The meeting discussed prospects for partnership in the education sector. In particular, the possibility of establishing systematic interaction between UBTECH and Kazakhstan's technical universities and colleges was considered, according to the statement.
In addition, a proposal was made to create a joint competence center. Under this initiative, Kazakh specialists could take part in the company's research and product development activities.
The meeting also considered the comprehensive introduction of UBTECH technologies into the Alatau City project, and the use of robotics in the mining and oil and gas sectors and at major logistics facilities.
