In Almaty, patrol officers had to block a car with Chinese license plates after its driver ignored a demand to stop. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the city police department, the "Buran-230" crew of the Almaly district spotted a car moving west along Raiymbek Avenue.

The driver failed to comply with the order to stop, after which the patrol officers began a pursuit. It turned out that a Chinese citizen was behind the wheel.

"His behavior raised suspicions, so the man was sent for a medical examination. The result confirmed moderate alcohol intoxication. The driver was removed from driving. The materials on the fact of drunk driving have been sent to court," the department said.

Earlier, "Kursiv" reported how in Karaganda a drunk driver of bus No. 29 tried to flee from patrol officers. In Semey, a similar chase ended in an accident: an intoxicated Mazda driver drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a truck. The man was trapped in the cabin, and police officers and witnesses helped him get out. And in Pavlodar, a tipsy man stole a service car of police officers who had arrived on a call about a theft in a store.

The incident in Almaty once again raises the issue of safety on the city's roads and compliance with traffic rules. The police department reminds drivers of the strict ban on driving while intoxicated and that such actions entail liability under the law.

The materials in the case of the Chinese citizen have been sent to court, with a decision expected soon. Police representatives noted that the driver may be deprived of the right to drive and subjected to administrative punishment.

This incident is just one of several road incidents recorded during night patrols in Almaty. City police regularly conduct raids to identify cases of driving while intoxicated.

It should be noted that in Kazakhstan, driving while intoxicated entails administrative and criminal liability. According to the legislation, drunk driving is punishable by a fine and deprivation of the right to drive.

According to Almaty police, since the beginning of the year, several hundred drivers have been held accountable for driving while intoxicated. This figure reflects the urgency of the road safety problem in the city.

Additional information about the full circumstances of the incident and the court's decision will be reported as it is published.
