Almaty is actively preparing to celebrate City Day. The main events will take place on September 19-20. According to the city akimat, more than 300 festive events in various formats are planned over the month. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Traditionally, the main venues for City Day celebrations will be located on Astana Square, Abai Square, pedestrian streets Panfilov and Zhibek Zholy, as well as the square in front of the Alatau Traditional Art Theater.
In addition, festive events will cover all districts of the city. In this regard, festive venues and district events will also be organized in 8 districts of Almaty.
Astana Square
Residents and guests can expect large-scale musical shows. On September 19, children's groups (including D Billions) and soloists of "Almaty Auyenderi" will perform, as well as a musical performance. On September 20, the program will continue with performances by popular Kazakh stars.
Panfilov Street (Alma Qala Fest)
Over two days, a traditional festival will take place here, featuring themed zones (children's, eco, digital, cinema and sports zones, as well as a food court). The main event will be the sale of more than 200 tons of the famous Almaty Aport apples.
Zhibek Zholy Street (Kitap Fest)
The annual book festival will be held with the participation of more than 50 publishing houses and stores. Guests will also enjoy performances by an immersive puppet theater, ethno-fusion groups, and live bands.
Abai Square (in front of the Palace of the Republic)
It will become one of the central venues for evening concerts and ceremonial programs.
Alatau Theater
A concert program "An men kuidin besigi" with the participation of Kazakh pop stars will be organized on the square in front of the theater.
Events will be within walking distance for all citizens.
On September 20, from 17:00 to 19:00, a festive concert program dedicated to City Day will be held on the site in front of the Alatau Traditional Art Theater, featuring famous Kazakh pop performers.
On September 19, from 14:00 – a festive concert dedicated to City Day (eastern shore of Lake Sayran). The program includes a concert and entertainment program, a sports zone, an exhibition of applied art crafts, a food zone, and a children's playground.
On September 19-20, festive events dedicated to Almaty City Day will be held on the site in front of the central entrance of the N. Satz Theater at 22 Shalyapin Street. On September 19, from 12:00 to 20:00, the following will take place: a creative competition for children "Tatti alma", a festive district concert I Love Almaty, and a youth creative concert Jas Vibe. On September 20, from 12:00 to 17:00, a retro concert "Sagyndym Almatymdy" and a festive concert program "Zhasai ber, asem kala – Almatym!" will be held.
On September 19, from 11:00 to 20:00, festive events dedicated to City Day will be held on the territory of Flow Park, located at the intersection of Al-Farabi Avenue and Dulati Street.
The program includes competitions in national sports, an exhibition of children's drawings, the Jas Fest fair, performances by talented pupils of the "Samgau" center, a concert program with artists, DJ sets, and other activities for residents and guests of the city.
On September 19, from 09:00 to 17:00, a large-scale festive event will be held at the Almaty Hippodrome at 10a Omarov Street. The program includes horse racing, a concert program with Kazakh pop performers, festive trade, a fair of craftsmen's products, national games and sports competitions, performances by ethno-creative groups, as well as themed photo zones "City Day" and "Uly dala oyindary".
As part of the event, the grand opening of "Uly dala oyindary" will take place. Competitions in kokpar, kunan-baige, zhamby atu, tenge ilu, audaryspak, alaman-baige, and other national sports will be organized. An awards ceremony for the winners will also be held.
On September 20 at 16:00, a festive concert program will be held in Gulder Park, and at 17:00 – a movie evening. A cultural and entertainment program and a festive concert will be presented for residents and guests of the city.

September 15, 09:00 – football tournament for the Cup of the akim of Medeu district among students of grades 7-11. Venue: CSKA.
September 17, 11:00 – event honoring mothers whose children were born on the eve of Almaty City Day. Venue: Maternity Hospital No. 2.
September 19, 09:00 – awards ceremony for winners of the district competition of decorative and applied arts "Menin Almatym" among students. Venue: Pushkin Alley.
September 19, 11:00 – festive concert event "Guldengen Almaty!". Venue: intersection of Makataev and Pushkin streets.
September 19 after 18:00 – open-air screenings of 2-3 films on the territory of the Terrenkur.

On September 19, from 11:00 to 16:00, a district festive event dedicated to Almaty City Day will be held in the park named after S. Seifullin (intersection of Sholokhov and Shcherbakov streets).
On September 20, in the pedestrian zone on Saurenbaev Street, an interactive program, treating residents and guests with apples, karaoke, and an open-air film screening will be organized.
In addition, for City Day, thematic exhibitions will be held in city museums, premieres of new productions and performances will take place in theaters, circus programs, as well as competitions timed to the holiday, environmental and charity events, and sports events in cultural and educational institutions will be organized.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that concerts of stars, especially foreign ones, which are expected as part of the celebration, will attract great public attention.
