A commemorative event marking the 85th anniversary of the legendary Panfilov Division was held in Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During the event, participants laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in the park named after the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen. On July 12, 1941, the 316th Rifle Division was formed in just two weeks. Later, for its selfless heroism in the defense of Moscow, the division was named after its commander, Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Panfilov.
The commemorative event was attended by veterans, government officials, and city residents. They honored the feat of the Panfilov Division and highlighted its historical significance.
