A weapons cache with ammunition was found near a river in Almaty. Police are working to determine who owned the weapons and when the cache was created. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Officers from the organized crime department discovered the cache in the Darkhan microdistrict, near the river. Inside was a large arsenal – a hand grenade launcher, pistols, sawn-off shotguns and cartridges.
The seized items were sent for forensic ballistic examination. Experts will determine the origin of the weapons and ammunition, verify ownership, and establish the circumstances and timing of the cache's creation.
A criminal case has been opened on this fact.
Earlier, on Raiymbek Avenue in Almaty, police detained a man whose behavior raised suspicions, as reported by the city police department. During a search, a knife and an object resembling a grenade were found in his bag.
