In Almaty, police officers detained a 32-year-old man who was involved in producing fake documents for foreign citizens. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The suspect, using valid individual identification numbers (IIN) and ID data of Kazakh citizens, produced fake identity cards, driver's licenses and vehicle registration documents for a fee. According to the investigation, he replaced photographs and data in original documents with his clients' information.
This allowed migrants from Central and South Asian countries to hide their real identities and illegally register in the delivery and taxi sectors in the metropolis.
"During the operational activities, computer equipment and mobile phones were seized from his office and sent for forensic examination," police said.
Currently, the issue of additional legal assessment of the detained citizen's actions on the grounds of "organizing illegal migration" is being considered.
