A 22-year-old man in Almaty was arrested for five days after he claimed during a security check at Raiymbek metro station that his bag contained a dangerous object. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to law enforcement, the young man made the statement to a security officer during a screening check. The information was immediately relayed to the police, who arrived at the scene and inspected the area.
The inspection found no dangerous or prohibited items. Later, the man admitted he said it as a joke.
The Specialized Interdistrict Court for Administrative Offenses in Almaty found the man guilty and sentenced him to five days of administrative arrest.
"The police remind: any false reports that could cause alarm or disrupt the work of security services are not a reason for jokes. Every such statement is mandatory checked, and the guilty are held accountable," the police statement said.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a 23-year-old woman in Astana was held administratively liable for filming strange social media content, using a road sign instead of a pylon for a viral video.
