Starting September 1, vehicles running on petrol, gas, and diesel fuel in Almaty must undergo technical checks to determine compliance with environmental standards. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to A-parking specialists, this check is not a component of the mandatory technical inspection but is considered a separate procedure. During it, vehicle emissions are measured: toxicity of exhaust gases for petrol and gas vehicles, and smoke level for diesel vehicles.
The check is carried out in accordance with the national standard ST RK 1433-2023. Specialists say there is no need to undergo the technical check ahead of time. The new requirement applies only to vehicles whose next mandatory technical inspection date falls after September 1.
If a vehicle passed the technical inspection before September 1 this year, the issued document remains valid until the end of its established term. Therefore, there is no need to re-pass the technical inspection or undergo the environmental check before that time.
Mandatory technical inspection can still be done at any existing technical inspection center. However, emission levels will only be measured at accredited stations equipped with the necessary equipment. In this case, a vehicle owner can undergo both procedures at an accredited station – emission check and mandatory technical inspection.
