A park dedicated to the history of cinematography and filmmakers will open on the territory of Kazakhfilm in Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The park will be an open public space covering 5.5 hectares. This became known following the working trip of Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva to Almaty.

Minister's statement

"Unfortunately, attempts were made to deliberately drive the national film studio into bankruptcy. As a result, Kazakhfilm was virtually equated with an ordinary production company, and we almost lost it. To preserve Kazakhfilm, support measures were adopted at the legislative level, including direct state funding for the film studio," said Aida Balayeva.

Plans and history

According to her, in 2027 it is planned to begin repairing the studio's pavilions. Kazakhstan's largest film studio was founded in 1934. In 1941, the Mosfilm and Lenfilm studios evacuated to the Kazakh SSR were merged into the Alma-Ata Film Studio.
