A multi-ton MAZ suddenly rolled away without a driver in Almaty, crashed into concrete blocks and fell into a ditch. A 41-year-old man tried to stop the out-of-control truck but ended up in hospital. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The emergency occurred in the morning at the intersection of Sagadat Nurmagambetov Street and the Eastern Bypass Road in the Medeu district.
What happened
It was preliminarily established that the driver left the MAZ without proper securing. At some point, the heavy vehicle rolled away on its own.
The truck first hit concrete blocks, but even after the collision it did not stop. Continuing to move, the MAZ went off the road and ended up in a ditch.
The injured person
The owner of the vehicle rushed to stop the rolling truck, but was injured. An ambulance was urgently called to the scene. The injured man was hospitalized in a regional hospital. The driver is alive.
Investigation
Police officers are now investigating why the multi-ton vehicle started moving and whether safety requirements were observed.
