Police in Almaty discovered a large batch of synthetic drugs and hundreds of ready-made stashes. According to the investigation, the detained man worked for an online store selling prohibited substances. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the city police department, the operation was carried out by officers of the anti-drug crime unit together with police officers of the Turksib district. The man was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking.

During a search of his car, operatives found 135 packages with a substance presumably of synthetic origin. Another 35 packages were seized from a hiding place not far from the place of detention.

During a search of the suspect's home, police found drugs, electronic scales, and packaging material for packing. Later, in the Almaty region, operatives seized about two more kilograms of synthetic substance and liquidated another hiding place in Almaty.

"According to preliminary data, the detainee worked for an online store distributing drugs. A criminal case has been opened. The suspect has been arrested," police reported.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that a resident of Almaty received 16 years for parcels with drugs from Thailand.
