Today, police cordoned off the Dostyk Plaza shopping and entertainment center in Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
A video circulating on social media shows police officers closing the entrance doors to the shopping center. K-9 units and law enforcement officers in helmets were also present at the scene.
The Almaty City Police Department explained the reason for the restrictive measures. A report was received that an explosive device had been planted in the shopping center.
«Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. As a result of the inspection, the presence of an explosive device was not confirmed,» the police reported.
Currently, there is no official information that the shopping center is operating normally. Police officers are conducting additional checks at the scene and keeping the situation under control.
