Almaty plans to replace 105 elevators in multi-apartment residential buildings this year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Of the elevators to be replaced, 47 have been in use for more than 25 years, and 58 require major repairs. The project is being implemented within the framework of the concept for the development of housing and communal infrastructure for 2023-2029.
Currently, about 14,500 elevators are in operation in Almaty. Of these, more than 8,400 are installed in 2,671 apartment buildings. According to the city administration, considering the level of wear and tear, at least 150 elevators need to be upgraded annually to ensure residents' safety.
