A routine vehicle check in Almaty turned into an unexpected discovery. Patrol officers stopped a Toyota Camry with five young men inside. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the city police department, the car was checked at the intersection of Kabanbay Batyr and Auezov streets. Under one of the seats, officers found an item resembling a pistol. It was seized.
It later emerged that shortly before the car was stopped, the young men, according to preliminary data, had been harassing passersby near a store and displaying an object resembling a weapon.
“Currently, officers of the Almaly district police department are establishing all the circumstances of the incident. An investigation is underway, and based on its results, the actions of the participants will be given a legal assessment,” the department said.
