In Almaty, on the occasion of the Day of Mass Media Workers, journalists and media employees were handed keys to new apartments on behalf of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

New housing was received by employees of TV channels Qazaqstan, Khabar, Eurasia, KTK and 31 Channel, LLP Qazaq Gazetteri, as well as editorial offices of newspapers and magazines Zhas Alash, Vremya, Qazaq Adebieti, Turkistan and radio Shalkar. In total, keys to 15 apartments were handed over.

The event was organized by the Dara Presidential Initiatives Fund. The ceremony was attended by Advisor – Press Secretary of the President Aibek Smadiyarov, who congratulated the journalists on their housewarming.

"The President especially noted the work of journalists working for the benefit of the country and nation, and also emphasized the need to support regional correspondents who work daily in the information field. On behalf of the Head of State, this year for the first time keys to apartments will also be handed over to journalists working in the regions," said Aibek Smadiyarov.

Recall that in 2026, it is planned to provide 66 apartments to mass media workers. Of these, 15 apartments are intended for journalists in Astana, another 15 for media representatives in Almaty, and two apartments each will be received by media employees in each of the 18 regions of the country.

The lists of those in need of improved housing conditions were formed jointly by the Dara Presidential Initiatives Fund, the Presidential Administration, local executive bodies and editorial offices of mass media.

Over the past three years, 200 employees of domestic media have already received housing certificates from the President. Earlier, keys were handed over to journalists in Astana.
