In Almaty, as part of the development of the 'Eastern Gate' polycenter, new roads and engineering communications are planned to be built in the northeastern part of the city. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The project is being implemented in accordance with the General Plan of Almaty, approved in 2023. The amendments currently being made to the General Plan do not provide for any changes regarding this project.

To improve transport connectivity, it is planned to build new roads with a total length of 17.5 km in the area bounded by Baimagambetov Street, Kulzha Highway, Bukhtarma Street, and Ryskulov Avenue. The new highway connecting Bukhtarma Street and Ryskulov Avenue will be six-lane. Its width will be 50 meters, length – 4.6 km.

The construction of this road will provide transport connection with the Greater Almaty Ring Road. As a result, the interconnection of the city's street and road network will improve, and the efficiency of transport links between Almaty and settlements in the agglomeration will increase.

Since the planned highway passes through a private residential sector, the forced purchase of about 200 land plots for state needs is envisaged. In this regard, the city akimat adopted a corresponding resolution and sent notifications to property owners.
