Since the beginning of 2026, 224 crimes committed under the influence of alcohol have been registered in Almaty. In 97 cases, it involved causing grievous bodily harm. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
Police have intensified preventive work with owners and sellers of retail outlets selling alcohol. Store employees are reminded of the rules for selling alcohol and liability for violating legislation.

Another meeting was held by employees of the department for coordination of preventive work of the Almaty police department together with the police department of Almaly district. The event was held with representatives of retail outlets selling alcohol products.
Zhandos Kavliyev, head of the department for coordination of preventive work of the Almaty police department, noted that prevention remains one of the key areas of police work.
"Our task is not only to respond to consequences, but also to prevent causes. That is why preventive work with trade entities selling alcohol products remains one of the important areas of police activity," said Zhandos Kavliyev.

The police called on citizens to be responsible in their alcohol consumption and consider possible consequences.
