According to the intelligent transport system Sergek ITS, 55.6% of drivers in Almaty have not violated traffic rules at all in the past year. This means almost every second driver was recorded at least once. The most disciplined motorists were rewarded. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The analysis covered the period from June 1, 2025 to June 1, 2026 and included more than 3 million unique vehicles, not only those registered in Almaty but also from other regions, as well as transit vehicles with foreign plates. Violations were considered across the entire territory of Kazakhstan. Even if a driver drove carefully in Almaty but was recorded in another city, they did not qualify as disciplined.

"The results showed that more than 1.7 million drivers had no recorded traffic violations either in Almaty or in other regions of the country," said Evgeniy Kim, CEO of Sergek Group.

The winners of the campaign were drivers who traveled the greatest number of kilometers without a single violation. They received certificates for an annual CASCO policy from Freedom Insurance JSC.

Almaty police emphasized that 750,000 vehicles are officially registered in the city, and an additional 350,000-400,000 out-of-town vehicles travel on the roads daily.

"Human nature is such that when you punish with a fine, it hurts more. However, the trend of encouraging law-abiding behavior on the road is also effective. This is international experience that we are trying to adopt," noted Saltanat Azirbek, official representative of the Almaty Police Department.

The insurance company explained the choice of CASCO by the policy's universality, as it covers not only accidents but also damage from hail, ice, or harm caused by hit-and-run drivers.
