A man who made a false report to police about an explosive device has been detained in Almaty. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Polisia.kz, police received a report that an explosive device had been planted in the building of one of the district police departments in Almaty.
"Emergency services of the city immediately arrived at the scene and thoroughly inspected the building and the adjacent territory. As a result of the inspection, no explosive devices, ammunition or other items were found," the statement said.
During the pre-trial investigation, department officers identified the person who made the report. The man admitted that he had not actually planted any explosive device and that he had deliberately made the report about an explosive device being planted in the building.
The suspect was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. A criminal case has been opened on this fact.
