Almaty will intensify street watering and air aeration from July 16 to 20 due to abnormal heat. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Temperatures in some parts of the city may reach 42 degrees, the city administration said. According to Kazhydromet, the air will warm above 40 degrees for the first time this season, significantly exceeding the climatic norm.
Due to the heat, city services will strengthen maintenance of the road network and organize additional cooling of urban areas. On main streets and sections with heavy pedestrian traffic, 16 columns of special equipment will operate. The machines will water the roadway and spray water into the air.
Work will be carried out during the hottest hours of the day. They will cover more than 128 streets of the city.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that due to the July heat, the load on the Almaty ambulance service increased significantly. In the first two weeks of July, doctors received 33,600 calls, including 1,500 due to high blood pressure and about 300 due to cardiovascular diseases. The number of heat strokes requiring an ambulance call doubled.
