In Almaty, 10,000 multi-story residential buildings will be connected to high-speed internet. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The city continues to implement XGSPON high-speed internet technology. This technology allows data transmission at speeds up to 10 Gbps. Currently, 80 residential buildings in the Turksib district and over 700 buildings in the Nauryzbai and Auezov districts have been connected to the new internet.

"In 2026, it is planned to connect 10,000 multi-story buildings to high-speed internet, install 40,000 video cameras in entrances, and offer a social tariff for 10,000 apartments," say specialists from the digitalization department.

It is worth noting that Almaty became the first city in Kazakhstan to implement XGSPON technology together with the Wi-Fi 6 system.
