By the start of the school year, road load in Almaty will significantly increase, while some construction and installation works in the city will not be completed yet. According to Timur Nogaibaev, head of the public security department of the Almaty police department, the load on city roads by September 1 will be "colossal". Therefore, foot patrols are planned to be deployed at problematic intersections.
In addition, patrol police squads will be on duty there. Additional crews will also appear at the entrances to Almaty.
At the same time, the police do not plan to reconfigure traffic lights in advance. If the situation on a particular section begins to deteriorate, duty officers will monitor the situation using video surveillance cameras and, if necessary, take measures to relieve traffic.
Thus, in the first days of the school year, drivers in Almaty should be prepared for denser traffic, especially given the ongoing construction works.
