Residents of the Alatau microdistrict in Almaty have complained about the lack of centralized water supply, sewage, and proper roads. The territory was annexed to the city 11 years ago, but the necessary utilities have still not appeared. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to local residents, water has to be ordered from private water carriers. Moreover, such services are expensive.

"For 11 years we have had no water, no sewage, no roads. Do you understand that we live in a metropolis, we live in the city of Almaty. They simply forgot about us," said local resident Zhanat Zholdasbayev.

Andrei Vinokhodov said that he moved to the microdistrict with his family three years ago. According to him, 10 cubic meters of delivered water cost about 20,000 tenge, and the family's monthly expenses exceed 100,000 tenge.

"We buy drinking water in a store. To wash dishes, do laundry, and so on, we order water carriers. In winter they cannot get up here because the slopes are very steep and there are no roads," he said.

Residents turned to the akimat for help. After that, work began on laying sewage in the area, but then it stopped. According to locals, the roads were dug up, but the pipes themselves never appeared.

Due to the condition of the roads, cars get stuck in the mud in bad weather. Residents fear that in the event of an emergency, emergency services will not be able to reach their homes.

Oksana Kuznetsova said that during one of the fires, a fire truck could not climb about 300-400 meters.

"The firefighters ran and actually put out the fire with their hands. Then local residents began to take them down. The same can happen with an ambulance. If a child or my elderly mother, who is over 70, gets sick, they simply cannot take her away," the woman said.

The akimat of Nauryzbai district said they intend to solve the problem in stages. First of all, the authorities plan to find a source of water, after which they will continue work on the construction of sewage.

"We want to first solve the problem with water supply. Now we are looking for water underground. We are also laying sewage pipes. This project is designed until the end of 2027. We cannot solve this issue in one year. If we make a mistake, given that the houses are on a slope, there may be a threat of landslides," said Yerkyn Aspandiyar, a specialist in the engineering and road infrastructure department of the Nauryzbai district akimat.

Thus, residents will have to wait for a full solution to the problem at least until the end of 2027. Meanwhile, locals say their patience is running out.
