A search-and-rescue operation to find a South Korean citizen continues in the mountains of Almaty. About 88 people, including Emergency Situations Ministry staff and volunteers, are involved in the effort. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Rescuers are surveying the mountainous terrain in stages, paying particular attention to hard-to-reach areas, slopes and gorges. The search is complicated by the terrain, the large area of the territory and sharp changes in elevation.
"Work is being carried out in conditions of difficult terrain, a significant area of territory and sharp changes in elevation. Particular attention is being paid to hard-to-reach areas, mountain slopes, gorges and other places difficult to traverse," the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
Ten units of equipment, three canine teams and seven drones have been deployed for the search.
The search is being conducted continuously. The progress of the operation is under the constant control of the Emergency Situations Ministry.
Recall that a 73-year-old South Korean citizen went missing in the mountains of Almaty on September 28. He ascended by the "Shymbulak" cable car as part of a group, after which he continued the route on his own and disappeared.
