A rock landslide occurred in Ile-Alatau, at an altitude of 2500 meters near the Big Almaty Lake. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Tourists who filmed and posted the video on social media said that despite clear weather, rocks suddenly fell from the mountain, shrouding the surroundings in a thick cloud of dust.
According to eyewitnesses, they were at a safe distance, so no one was injured.
Commenters almost unanimously say this is a warning from nature itself: "Stop building and destroying nature."
The Emergency Situations Department confirmed the information. According to their data, a rockfall occurred in the area of avalanche collector No. 12 from a rocky section of the slope. The causes of the collapse were natural weathering processes of rocks, temperature fluctuations, and atmospheric precipitation.
The fallen rocks did not reach the road. There were no casualties or injuries, and no destruction was recorded.
