Search efforts continue for a 73-year-old South Korean citizen who went missing in the mountains of Almaty six days ago. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations provided information on the progress of the search and rescue operation. According to the ministry, the search is complicated by mountainous terrain, the large area being checked, and elevation differences.

Rescuers are working in hard-to-reach areas, including gorges and mountain slopes. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and police, as well as volunteers, are involved in the search and rescue efforts.

In total, 102 people, 11 vehicles, four canine service teams, six drones, and aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been deployed.

"The search work continues non-stop. Rescuers are conducting work in hard-to-reach areas, including gorges and mountain slopes," the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

Circumstances of the incident

Recall that on September 28, the 73-year-old foreign citizen ascended with a group of people via the "Shymbulak" cable car. He later told colleagues that he intended to continue the route on his own and reach the city without anyone's help. However, he did not return to the hotel. After that, search efforts were organized.
