A passenger injured in a road accident on the Almaty-Khorgos highway has died in hospital. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The tragic accident occurred on June 23 near the village of Shelek. A Haval car veered into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with an Audi 100. The driver and two passengers of the Audi died at the scene. Seven people were taken to the district hospital.

According to the regional health department, one victim was discharged home after receiving necessary medical care. A one-year-old child was transferred to the regional hospital.

"Unfortunately, one victim died from severe injuries," doctors said. Currently, three people are receiving treatment in the trauma department of the district hospital. Another patient is in critical condition in the intensive care unit, doctors report.
