KazAvtoZhol national company announced that compensation has been paid to owners of cars damaged on the Almaty-Korgas highway. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

A video circulated on social media showing cars damaged by a concrete fragment protruding on the road. One car had a punctured tire, another had a ruptured fuel tank.

According to information released by KazAvtoZhol, due to rising air temperatures, cement-concrete slabs have shifted in some areas. The defect shown in the video was caused by a truck.

"According to preliminary data, the incident occurred after a heavy truck passed. Under the load, part of the concrete pavement collapsed, subsequently damaging the wheels of passenger cars traveling on this section," company specialists said.

After the incident, road services together with the contractor repaired the defect. "The material damage to the affected car owners was fully compensated by the contractor. In addition, police authorities took administrative measures against the contractor and imposed an appropriate fine," the official statement said.
