More than 25.8 million trips were registered on Kazakhstan's toll roads in summer 2026. The most popular route was Almaty – Konaev. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to KazAvtoZhol National Company JSC, 25,818,167 trips were registered on 28 toll sections over the three summer months. On average, the roads handled about 281,000 trips per day.
The Almaty – Konaev section became the leader in traffic intensity. Over the summer, 4.31 million trips were registered there.
Second place went to the Shymkent – border with Uzbekistan highway — 2.68 million trips. Third place was taken by the Shymkent – Taraz section, where 1.87 million trips were recorded.

The ten most in-demand toll sections accounted for more than 18.2 million trips — about 71% of all summer traffic.
KazAvtoZhol notes that traffic intensity shows high demand both for routes between major cities and for directions toward tourist and recreational zones.
In particular, the in-demand highways include Almaty – Konaev, Astana – Shchuchinsk, Shchuchinsk – Kokshetau, Karaganda – Balkhash, Kyzylorda – Aralsk and Usharal – Dostyk.
The company links the growth in car trips, among other factors, to the development of road infrastructure. More accessible regions, reduced travel time and improved safety create conditions for domestic tourism.
At the same time, roadside infrastructure is expanding along national roads. About 1,500 service facilities are currently operating, including gas stations, food outlets, hotels, rest areas and sanitary facilities.
Infrastructure for electric vehicles is also gradually developing. More than 60 charging stations are already operating along national highways.
KazAvtoZhol believes that road development affects more than just transport connectivity. The growth in car traffic creates additional opportunities for tourism and small business, including through new roadside service facilities.
