Almaty police have issued an official statement regarding people collecting money for charity in buses. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to police, two cases of illegal fundraising have been detected in the past week. Appropriate measures are being taken in accordance with the law.
Law enforcement officers recommend ensuring that the organization is officially registered before making a charitable donation, and familiarizing oneself with its activities, financial reports, and official sources.
Timur Nogaibayev, a representative of the Almaty Police Department, noted that they are not urging citizens to refuse charity, but rather to support those who truly need help, but to do so consciously.
"A few minutes spent verifying information about an organization allows you to be confident that your funds will reach a truly needy person and not fall into the hands of fraudsters," said Timur Nogaibayev.
He also asked citizens to report to the police if they have doubts about the legality of fundraising.
